What is Concierge Primary Care?

Concierge primary care is a type of healthcare model where patients pay a monthly membership fee to a primary care provider in exchange for enhanced services and more personalized care. This model is sometimes referred to as boutique medicine.

In concierge primary care you can expect:

1. Membership Fees: Patients pay an annual or monthly fee to their primary care provider.

2. Enhanced Services: Patients typically receive longer appointment times, same-day or next-day appointments, after hour access to their provider via phone, and coordination of specialist care if needed.

3. Personalized Care: Providers in concierge practices often have fewer patients, allowing them to spend more time with each patient, provide more personalized attention, and focus on preventive care.

4. Wellness Services: Most concierge practices offer additional wellness services such as weight loss, fitness consultations, and stress management programs.

5. Insurance Coverage: While patients still typically have health insurance for specialist care, hospitalizations, and other medical services outside of primary care, the membership fee for concierge care is not covered by insurance. Majority of concierge care providers do not accept health insurance and are "cash pay".

Concierge primary care models aim to provide a more patient-centered approach to healthcare by fostering strong provider-patient relationships and emphasizing preventive care and wellness.
